New Tendency is a Berlin-based design studio founded in 2012. The company, helmed by Manuel Goller as its founder and creative director, evolved from the interdisciplinary design collective “My Bauhaus is better than yours”, which started in 2009. Most of the designers were students at the prestigious Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, which is until today the biggest influence for the brand. While New Tendency also does graphic design, fashion design and conceptual art, it is mostly known for its furniture and home objects. In true Bauhaus fashion, the products are characterized by conceptual design, clean aesthetics and functional form. They are striking with sculptural qualities, yet simple and discreet. Modernist principles are applied onto contemporary objects of the everyday, enhancing living spaces in an intellectual and poetic way. Most products are artfully handcrafted in Germany at the highest standard, reflecting the dedication to sustainability and attention to detail. In addition to their own vision, the German brand also regularly invites other points of view in the form of collaborations with different entities from 1017 ALYX 9SM to Clemens Tissi. In our current time of endless possibilities for production and creation, New Tendency takes a step back and provides us with a clear and carefully developed vision.
